Carrie Ryan's YA horror novel, The Forest of Hands and Teeth (published by Gollancz UK), is soon to be adapted for the big screen.Alan Nevins of Renaissance Literary & Talent, who brokered the deal on behalf of Jim McCarthy at Dystel Literary, sold the film rights to the book to Seven Star Pictures (K-11, forthcoming).
Nevins said the book, a post-apocalyptic zombie thriller about a girl who lives in an isolated religious community and is equally worried about a zombie invasion and her planned marriage, will "do for zombies what Twilight did for vampires."
Seven Star is rumoured to be developing the project for an as-yet-unnamed A-list starlet and is fast-tracking the project. A first draft of the screenplay is already in the works.

AWESOME! This book was amazing and I really hope they find a good cast for the characters! =)
Eeee! I finished the book today and I loved it so much! Amaaazing...I just hope they don't make the movie any different! @__@
Hi, the -"unknown A-list actress" is very likly to be Kristen Steward. The author is an alum of my high school and told us that see was in talk with Kristen Steward about her book to be filmed as movie and Kristen to take the main role, and soon after news of the movie deal broke. ;)
It really is a very interesting book and I strongly believe it would make for one hell of a move.
bleh - Kristin Stewart, no thanks.
I love this book!!! I hope they have a good cast for the charecters... ( i really dont want kristen stewart to be in it.... not that i dont like her or anything :/ )
i loved this book. the first thing that i said when i was done reading it was that it would make an amazing movie. i cant wait to see it.
but i think that Kristen Stewart should b left out of the movie. she almost ruined twilight for me. she was a better actress in new moon tho. but still, the role of Mary should go to a better actress
god, PLEASE don't let kristen stewart be mary. she's a terrible actress, and she only has one facial expression. plus she has the most annoying monotone voice ever. this should be a great movie but it deserves a MUCH better actress.
PLEASEEE not Kristen Stewart!!! she is probably the worst actress on Earth....it would ruin the movie and books!
Oh my god. If Kristen Stewart comes anywhere near this movie or books I will freak the @^@#$ out. Twilight was already dog crap, she's already a boring actress, to bring her anywhere near The Forest of Hands and Teeth would be disgrace!!! I hope they pick someone fantastic. Emily Browning comes to mind, but I'm not sure. As long as Kristen Stewart doesn't get involved. That'd suck. The movie would BOMB!
Oh, my dear sweet...
KRISTEN STEWART WILL RUIN THIS. She is a terrible actress, and we need to NOT link TFOHAT with freaking Twilight. Come on. Let's at least TRY and make this adaptation passable. If KT stars in it, I'll seriously rethink going to watch the movie. It'll suck ass if she's lip-biting and hair-tossing all over the place. ARGH! Thanks, Seven Star, for potentially ruining this amazing book. Really.
